Meet the Founders
Educators Creating Real Change
Joseph Chan and Tiffany Ng are a husband-and-wife team with over 30 years of combined experience in education. Their vision: to build an afterschool program that truly works.
Joseph Chan
Co-Founder • 14 years of Experience
Mathematics educator with extensive experience teaching across multiple school districts including Alhambra, Arcadia, San Gabriel, El Monte Union High School District, and Montebello. Holds a Mathematics teaching credential and Bachelor's degree in Child Development. Specializes in middle and high school mathematics including Algebra, Geometry, and Integrated Math.
Tiffany Ng
Co-Founder • 16 years of Experience
Educator with 16 years of experience in primary education in Alhambra Unified School District. Earned her Bachelor's degree at The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and her Master of Arts in Education (MAEd) in Educational Administration at Concordia University Irvine. Holds a Multiple Subject teaching credential with extensive experience teaching at the primary grade levels.
Our Story
Through years of teaching in classrooms across multiple districts, Joseph and Tiffany developed a clear vision: to create an afterschool program structured the right way. They observed that many programs focus solely on homework completion, but this approach often misses the mark. Simply finishing assignments does not lead to real academic proficiency or deep understanding.
R.I.S.E. Academy was founded on the belief that students need more than just homework help. They need structured academic support that builds genuine understanding, develops confidence and discipline, and instills strong learning habits that will serve them for years to come.
We also recognize the importance of balance in a child's life. Beyond academics, students need physical play, outdoor time, and reduced screen time to develop into well-rounded, healthy learners. At R.I.S.E. Academy, we honor both the academic and personal growth that every child deserves.
